India tighten noose on Windies

Captain Darren Sammy stood out with an incisive spell of pace bowling Monday that helped the West Indies take a useful 95-run lead over India at the close of the second day of the first test at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.

The pace bowler took three wickets in 11 deliveries to finish with 3-35 as India was dismissed for 209 in reply to West Indies' first innings score of 304.

India, however, ended the day on a positive note as it reduced the West Indies to 21-2 in its second innings.

India, which had reached 89-0 in just over 12 overs, slipped badly after the dismissals of openers Virender Sehwag (55) and Gautam Gambhir (41). Rahul Dravid (54) then did some repair work in the company of lower order batsmen.

Earlier, Pragyan Ojha took a career-best 6-72.
