India vs South Africa 3rd ODI: Match abandoned due to rain

The match has been abandoned beause of persistent rain with South Africa winning the series 2-0.

The covers are on at the Centurion suspending play with India needing 302 to win.

South Africa recovered after a horror start to reach 301-8 in 50 overs powered by centuries from Quinton de Kock (101) and AB de Villiers (109) during a 171-run stand for the fourth wicket.

India rattled the top order to have South Africa on the back foot bat 28-3 by the eight over before Quinton and AB de Villiers rebuilt the innings.

De Kock became only the fifth batsman to hit three consecutive ODI centuries which came off 120 balls and contained nine boundaries and two sixes.

Skipper de Villier's century came off 101 balls and was studded with five sixes and six boundaries.

David Miller chipped in with a 34-ball unbeaten 56 which contained five boundaries and three sixes.

Ishant Sharma claimed his 100th ODI wicket to finish with figures of four for 40 while Shami claimed three for 69.

Shami claims his third wicket as Philander chops the ball onto his stumps. SA 298-8 in 49.4 overs.

Parnell and Miller get a boundary apiece off Shami as South Africa look to set another formidable target. SA 282-6 in 48 overs.

Quinton de Kock's epoch-making innings comes to an end with Ishant returning to rattle his stumps and end a 171 stand for the fourth wicket. SA 199-4 in 38 overs.

AB de Villiers is on fire smashing consecutive sixes on either side of the wicket off Shami. SA 193-2 in 37 overs.

Quinton de Kock becomes only the fifth player to make three consecutive ODI centuries by clipping Shami for a single.

AB de Villiers is turning it on sweeping Ashwin for a six in the first over of Batting Powerplay while Quinton moves to 99. SA 179-3 in 36 overs.

Quinton smashes a full toss from Kohli for another six. SA 168-3 in 35 overs.

Boundaries keep flowing with the introduction of part timers as AB de Villiers hammers Raina through the covers. SA 149-3 in 32 overs.

Quinton hits the first six of the match flicking Kohli over midwicket. SA 142-3 in 31 overs.

Quinton completes his half century with a single and cracks a boundary off Jadeja. SA 96-3 in 23 overs.

Quinton is dropped again this time by Yuvraj who fluffs a chance in the deep. SA 80-3 in 20 overs.

The 50 partnership between Quinton and AB has come in 71 balls as they rebuild the innings.

Quinton de Kock (37) survives with Rahane at short fine leg flooring a chance. SA 71-3 in 17 overs.

Quinton slams Yadav straight past the bowler for another classic boundary as drinks are taken. SA 60-3 in 15 overs.

Quinton rocks back and cracks Yadav through the covers for a boundary to bring up the 50 of the innings. SA 53-3 in 13 overs.

AB de Villiers punches Ishant through mid-off and cover. SA 46-3 in 12 overs.

Quinton gets his firt boundary whipping Yadav through midwicket followed by another straight down the ground. SA 18-0 in 4 overs.

Amla gets another boundary jabbing Yadav through midwicket with a flick of the wrists. SA 9-0 in 2 overs.

Amla hits the first boundary of the match slicing Ishant past backward point. SA 5-0 in 1 over.

South Africa have won the toss and will bat first in the third and final day-night one-day international against India at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Wednesday.

South Africa have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

The hosts have rested Steyn, Morkel and Kallis with Henry Davids, Wayne Parnell and Imran Tahir playing.

Yuvraj comes in for Rahane for India.
