IPL6: Chennai snatch win from Bangalore

Chennai won Match 16 of IPL6 against Bangalore by four wickets after a nail-biting finish at a packed MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Saturday night.

Needing 16 off the last over, Jadeja smashed a boundary and six off the first two balls to finish on 166-6.

With two needed off the last ball, Jadeja was caught at third man but raced for a single realising RP Singh had bowled a no-ball to the despair of Bangalore.

Jadeja remained unbeaten on 38 off 20 ball having hit three boundaries and a six.

Chasing a stiff targeet of 166, Chennai clawed back after losing openers Vijay and Hussey cheaply to be reduced to 10 for two after four overs.

They made a partial recovery to reach 62-2 at the halfway stage before suffering another setback as Raina (30) and Badrinath (34) departed in quick succession.

Dhoni walked to the middle and put their chase back on track in characteristic fashion smashing 33 off 23 balls with a boundary and two sixes during an breezy stand of 59 with Jadeja for the fifth wicket.

Rampaul struck twice within the space of four balls in the 19th over to dismiss Dhoni and Bravo.

Jadeja held his nerve to steer Chennai home despite being caught off a no-ball in the final ball of the match.

Rampaul had the best return of three for 31 while Syed Mohammad claimed two for 15.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore put into bat by Chennai Super Kings recovered to make 165 for six.

After losing Gayle in the second over and being two down for 51 in the ninth, RCB were lifted by a 82-run stand for the third wicket between Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Kohli departed after a captain's knock of 58 off 47 which contained just two boundaries and two sixes.

De Villiers was the aggressor during this partnership and held the innings together before being dismissed in the last ball of the innings.

The South African Twenty20 captain made 64 off 32 balls smashing eight boundaries and a six.

Morris had the best return of three for 40 while Nannes, Ashwin and Bravo struck crucial blows.
