Unfancied Sunrisers Hyderabad stormed into the IPL6 play-offs with an emphatic five-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final league match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on Sunday night.

The Cameron White- led Sunrisers jumped to fourth above Royal Challenger Bangalore with 20 points with this win and knock out Virat Kohli's team from the competition.

Chasing a relatively small target of 131, Sunrisers coasted home with seven balls to spare with Sammy blasting two towering sixes off Abdulla as they finished on 132-5 in 18.5 overs.

Sunrisers will meet Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator on Wednesday May 22 while Chennai Super Kings face Mumbai Indians in Qualifier One on Tuesday May 21.

Openers Parthiv Patel (47) and Shikhar Dhawan (42) laid the foundation for their comfortable victory with a fluent 89-run stand.

Dhawan cracked three boundaries and two sixes while Patel slammed seven boundaries.

Hyderabad were cruising along merrily before Dhawan's dismissal triggered a mini collapse which saw four wickets fall for 19 runs within the space of four overs.

Left arm spinner Abdulla who finished with three for 29 caused the damage enticing the batsmen into unorthodox shots.

Ahmmed struck another blow when he bowled the dangerous Perera with a yorker which disturbed his bails.

Sammy played down a maiden off the final over from his West Indian team mate Narine whose gave away only 11 runs in his four overs.

However, the World Cup winning West Indies T20 skipper dashed the hopes of Royal Challengers Bangalore who were praying for an upset win by Kolkata smashing two consecutive sixes off Abdulla.

Earlier, a belligerent unbeaten 49 from Yusuf Pathan helped Kolkata Knight Riders reach 130-7 after opting to bat first.

Kolkata struggled against some disciplined bowling from Hyderabad.

Gambhir was run out after a mix-up with Kallis laboured to 24 off 29 balls before falling to Steyn.

Pathan smashed three sixes and three boundaries in his 29-ball 49.

Steyn claimed two for 24.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are ahead of them in fourth place on a better net run rate but their fate lies in the hand of SRH who are on a roll having got the better of Rajasthan Royals on Friday night.
