IPL6: Mumbai go top after Pollard pummels Hyderabad

Pollard was the architect in scripting Mumbai Indians' resounding seven-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday night.

Mumbai surged to the top of the standings having a better run rate than Chennai who also have 20 points.

Chasing a formidable 179, Smith and Tendulkar played a responsible innings and Smith got 21 of 17 balls, with four boundaries.

Tendulkar began well living upto to his home crowds expectations scoring 30 of 23 balls but had to retire hurt.

The new man in Rayudu failed to put up a show and was dismissed for two of 5 balls.

Karthik 30 of 23 balls with four boundaries looked hopeful for Mumbai but he too was dismissed by KV Sharma.

Rohit Sharma made 20 of 15 balls and a heroic effort by Pollard smashing 66 off 27 balls saw Mumbai through convincingly.

Pollards blistering knock of eight sixes coming towards the end of the innings put Mumbai in total control rattling the Sunrisers Hyderabad with Perera bowling the agonising last over.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad spurred by a half century from Shikar Dhawan (59) and a powerpacked unbeaten 43 from Cameron White made a formidable 178-3.

Patel (26) gave them a solid start cracking five boundaries before Dhawan took over.

Dhawan figured in a 73-run second wicket stand with Vihari who added 55 runs for the third wicket with White.

Dhawan smashed six boundaries and two boundaries in his 41-ball 59.

White turned it on clubbing three sixes and three boundaries in his 23-ball 34 as Hyderabad finished with a flourish.

Malinga had the best return of two for 26

White has been retained as captain of Sunrisers at the expense of Sangakkara.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be aiming to grab two crucial points and stay in contention for the playoff when they take on Mumbai Indians in Match 62 of IPL6 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.

MI are undefeated at home this season and are on a high having won their last three matches.

SRH have eight wins from 13 matches and need to win at least two more matches to be sure of a berth in the play-offs.

In the only previous meeting between these two teams, SRH won by seven wickets.
