IPL6: Mumbai pip Punjab by 4 runs

Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by four runs in their IPL match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. 

Johnson dismissed danger man Miller 56 of 34 balls with five sixes and a boundary in his blazing innings, which turned the game on its head for Kings XI Punjab.

Punjab in the run chase looking for 175 for a win got off a to a shaky start with Mumbai striking Mandeep and Marsh being dismissed in quick sessions.

Hussey's 34 runs of 18 balls studded with five boundaries and a six was ended by Ogha.

Miller was their next top batsmen taken out by Johnson at 149-9. Punjab had pinned hopes on Miller but after his dismissal Kumar fought fiercely adding a quick 24 off 15 balls with two huge sixes and a boundary but stumbled in the last ball attempting to get  a six of the last ball.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma paved way for a fighting score of 174-3, with an unbeaten 79.

Sharma's blistering knock contained six boundaries and six sixes to put Punjab in a tight spot.

Smith opened well for Mumbai with 33 off three boundaries and one huge six.

Karthik smashed 25 of 19 balls with two boundaries and one six while Pollard stayed put till the end with 20 of 21 balls with one boundary and a six.

KINGS XI PUNJAB INNINGS

Sensational final over with Kumar attempting to take Punjab across with a splendid six but Kulkarni dismisses the threat in the last ball with Sachin latching on to a catch at point.

Miller is the man who can take Punjab across the line with Kulkarni tempting him with the slow balls.But Chawla takes the bait hitting deep wicket. Miller compensates with a six. 9 runs of this over.

Chawla attempts to drive through deep midwicket with Rayudu latching on to a splendid catch.

Mandeep Singh slams Johnson to the boundary after a wide ball of the first ball. Seven runs comes of that over.

A fantastic last over knock by Sharma. Hussey is pulled thrice over the fence for huge sixes and finishes off in syle smashing two boundaries to get 27 run of that last over.

Pollard pulls Kumar to the fence but Kumar just manages to give 8 runs of that over.

Sharma punishes Gony of a slow ball hitting him for a huge six at long-off. Fumbles and pays conceding 11 runs with Sharma and Pollard getting the runs on the board.
