Pune Warriors India ended Kolkata Knight Riders faint hopes of qualifying for the play-off by pulling off a thrilling seven-run win in Match 65 at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Wednesday.

Chasing a stiff target of 171, Kolkata were rocked by the dismissals of Bisla and Kallis by Parnell in successive over.

Kolkata were boosted by a 98-run stand for the fourth wicket between Ryan ten Doeschate (42) and Yusuf Pathan (72) after they had slipped to 29-3.

Pune clawed their way back removing Tiwary for a duck.

But it was the bizarre dismissal of Pathan for obstructing the field in the 18th over that snuffed out Kolkata's charge.

Earlier, Pune Warriors India were lifted by a half century from Manish Pandey (66) and made a formidable 170-4 after being put into bat.

Uthappa (25) and Finch gave them a steady start posting 41 in 5.4 overs.

Skipper Finch stepped up the ante smashing three sixes and two boundaries in his 32-ball 48 before falling in the 13th over.

Pandey took up the cue stroking eight boundaries and a six adding 65 runs for the third wicket before being run out.

Yuvraj boosted the innings smashing three sixes in his 20-ball cameo of 30.

When the two teams met at Pune earlier this season, KKR won by 46 runs.
