IPL6: Samson spurs Rajasthan to win over Bangalore

Vinay Kumar's cameo propels Bangalore to 171-6

Spurred by a sparkling half century from Sanju Samson (63 off 41 balls) Rajasthan Royals pulled off a thrilling four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 40 of IPL6 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday.

Chasing a target of 172, Dravid gave them them ideal start cracking four boundaries in a 17-ball 22.

Samson continued the momentum after the dismissal of Rahane, with a belligerent knock which was studded with seven sixes and two boundaries.

He was associated in a breezy 68-run stand in 46 balls for the third wicket with Watson (32) who added 46 off just 25 balls with Hodge for the fourth wicket.

Hodge's 18-ball cameo of 32 which contained two sixes and a boundary set them on course before falling in the last over with victory in sight.

Rampaul claimed two for 28.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore spurred by a late cameo form Vinay Kumar made 171-6 in 20 overs after being put into bat.

Gayle gave them a flying start smashing six boundaries and a six in his 16-ball 36.

Superb bowling from Watson and Sreesanth pegged back Bangalore.

AB de Villiers was caught in the deep for 21 off 13 balls just when he threatened to cut loose while Kohli made an uncharacteristic 32 off 35 balls.

Their innings never really gathered momentum despite Henriques making 22 off 19 balls with two boundaries and a six.

It was some lusty blows from Vinay Kumar who blasted three sixes off Faulkner that helped Bangalore set Rajasthan a stiff target.

Watson had an excellent return of 3 for 22 while Sreesanth and Trivedi claimed a wicket apiece.

Birthday boy Faulker took two superb catches but went for 42 in his four overs.

Both teams are undefeated at home so far this season.

While RR thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous match, RCB suffered a 58-run drubbing at the hands of Mumbai Indians.

Both teams are still placed among the top four teams in the standings.
