IPL6: SunRisers blast Challengers to win thriller

SunRisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bangalore after a Super Over eliminator after the scores were tied at 130.

This is their second win in the IPL6.

SRH batting first made 20 thanks to a brilliant 17 off five balls from White which included two sixes off Vinay Kumar.

RCB were 15 for no loss with Kohli hitting a boundary and Gayle a six off a terrific over from Steyn.

"Credit should go to Steyn for bowling a good over against the dangerous Gayle and Kohli," said White after his matchwinning knock.

RCB INNINGS

6th ball: Steyn concedes a single.

5th ball: Gayle blasts a straight six.

4th ball: Kohli only manages a single.

3rd ball: Kohli flicks for a boundary to fine leg.

2nd ball: Gayle manages only a single.

1st ball: Gayle gets a couple hitting to square leg.

White blasts 17 off five deliveries including two sixes in the Super Over bowled by Vinay Kumar setting RCB a target of 21 to win the tie.

Vihari misses the final ball but they scramble for a bye leaving the scores tied leading to a Super Over to decide the winner.

The dramatic 17th over has changed the equation of the match which is going to the wire with SunRisers 103-6 though Vihari is unbeaten on 34.

Royal Challengers Bangalore recovered after a disastrous start to make 130 for eight in Game 7 of IPL6 after opting to bat against SunRisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Skipper Kohli top scored with 46 off 44 balls with five boundaries and a six while Moises Henriques played a good hand in the latter part of the innings scoring 44 off 40 balls with five boundaries.

It was a good recovery after Sunrisers were off to a sensational start with leg spinner Vihari removing Gayle with his first ball in Twenty20 cricket.

Sharma bowled explosive Sri Lankan opener Dilshan while Mishra trapped Nair leg before to reduce RCB to 42-3 after 7.1 overs.

Kohli and Henriques spearheaded their recovery to bring some respectability to their innings.

Sangakkara at cover takes an easy catch off Vinay Kumar as Ishant picks up his third wicket to finish with three for 27.

Steyn has gone for 11 in the penultimate over with Vinay Kumar getting a healthy edge over the keeper for a boundary in the last ball of the 19th over in which Henriques wasdropped.

Thisara gets a wicket with his final delivery with Reddy taking a good catch to dismiss Karthik in the 18th over to finish with one for 21.

Henriques has smashed Steyn for consecutive boundaries, with a deft jab to third man past the vacant slip and screeching cover drive next ball in the 17th over.

RCB would have been in further trouble had Ishant Sharma held on to a catch off Agarwal off Mishra who finishes a wonderful spell with figures of one for 15.

Henriques takes the aerial route to hit his first boundary off Thisara which goes high but lands inside the rope.

A brilliant piece of bowling and catching on his follow through by Reddy who had been smashed to point two balls earlier.

Another setback for RCB after Kohli had added 43 runs for the fourth wicket with Henriques.

Kohli is on fire hitting the first six of the match smashing Sharma back into the stand with a massive blow in the 13th over.

Kohli has whipped Ankit to midwicket for his fourth boundary in the 11th over.

Bangalore have made a recovery of sorts after losing explosive openers Gayle and Dilshan cheaply reaching 55-3 at the halfway stage with Kohli batting on 24 with Henriques.

Bangalore skipper Kohli has decided attack is the best form of defence dancing down the track to smash Ankit Sharma through the covers for his second boundary.

Bangalore are in trouble having lost both explosive openers Gayle and Dilshan with just 22 on the board.

It is a big wicket as Gayle was surprised by the bounce and spin with the West Indies slashing at off spinner Hanuma Vihari and getting a nick to the keeper.
