AK Satish, Gopal Jasapara and Duane Fonseca dazzled with the bat as Media Invitation XI  beat DCC (Dubai Cricket Council) Invitation Xi by 21 runs in a festival cricket match played between the two sides at the ICC Global cricket Academy ground in Dubai.

Skipper KR Nayar won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision which proved right as openers Satish and Ahmed Abbas played with lots of determination to see off the opening spell by Adel Farooq and Paresh Amarnani.

They took their time to settle in and then belted the DCC bowlers freely to put on 64 runs for the opening essay when Abbas was bowled by Mandeep Pujji.

Satish continued with his aggressive batting  slamming  four boundaries to show a glimpse of yesteryear class  and finally retired after making 31 runs.

Gopal Jasapara then piled on the misery for DCC with fluent shots on both sides of the wicket and enjoyed good support from Neeil (12) and Ramdas Volvoikar  (13).

Fonseca then played a blinder slamming two boundaries and a huge straight driven six off Adel to make a rapid fire 19 runs in 11 balls and take his team to an imposing total of 148 runs.

Neeraj Ramamoorthy claimed two for 13.

DCC started off with the father and son duo of IP Khaitan and Nalin Khaitan opening the innings which is a record of some sorts to put on 26 run in the first five overs before 'IP' retired after making three runs.

Shoeb Muljiani (11) and Nalin then played attractive cricket to bring the required run rate to par.

Nalin top-scored for DCC XI with a knock of 30 in 22 before retiring.

Excellent bowling backed up by some spirited fielding by the Media tightened the noose for DCC as they lost Adel Farooq, Mohamed Lokhandwala and Salman Hanif in quick succession.

Neeraj with nine runs and Bashir with  an unbeaten 14 runs supported by late cameos of 13 from the blade of Paresh Amarnani and 12 by Shiva Pagarani saw DCC  finish on 127 runs.

At  the post match presentation,  Khaitan, Mazhar Khan and Mohamed Lokhandwala presented all the participating players with designer watches sponsored by DCC.

Nayar thanked DCC and all the sponsors for arranging the game which they immensely enjoyed and looked forward for some more games.

The winner’s trophy was presented by Khaitan to Nayar and Pradeep Adur while  Satish and Fonseca were awarded the Best Players of the day awards.
