Syed Omar and Ayub Inayat hammered fluent centuries to power Phoenix Medicine to a huge 248-run victory over ANIB XI in the fifth Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.
In other matches Unicon Real Estate held their nerve when it mattered most to beat Interface Transworld by one wicket while Ibsons CC defeated Multiplex CC with ease by 152 runs.
Omar slammed an unbeaten 119 off just 61 balls with seven fours and eight sixes and Inayat made an equally aggressive 112 off 54 balls with 13 fours and seven sixes as Phoenix Medicine, batting first, rattled up a massive 424 for eight in the allotted 40 overs.
Usman Mansoor also joined the party, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 24 balls with seven fours and three sixes to further consolidate the Phoenix Medicine innings.
ANIB XI, in reply, were bowled out for 176 with Asif Mumtaz taking four wickets for 38 runs. Glenn (36) and Neville (31) were the only two batsmen who could some resistance to the spot-on Phoenix Medicine attack.
The match between Unicon Real Estate and Interface Transworld produced a thrilling high-scoring affair before the former crossed the finishing line with almost five overs to spare.
Unicon Real Estate had built their innings around Saifullah Aslam (81 off 53 balls) and Zeeshan (53 not out off 32 balls). Earlier, Adnan Arif (79) and Fahad Tariq (52) played key roles in guiding Interface Transworld to 293 for eight, but faltered while defending what looked a very competitive total.
In another match Ibsons CC, aided by a solid 74 by Ibrahim Malik, comfortably kept up their dominance over Multiplex CC, winning by the one-sided by 299 runs.
