Sevens cricket festival at Zabeel Park

Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has joined hands with Dubai Cricket Council (DCC) to hold a seven-a-side cricket tournament on Friday at Zabeel Park in Dubai ahead of the festive weekend.
"We are pleased to conduct and support cricket as this is the main sport played by most of our expatriate community. This cricket festival is being held in implementation of the strategic plan of the Dubai Sports Council's aims to focus on the quality sports which are popular in Dubai in order to have access to all community groups and involving them in events and sports activities. We plan to make it a fun-filled day and we hope that all participants have a great time and enjoy their cricket," said Dr Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General of DSC.
"We are pleased to support Dubai Sports Council's endeavour and have invited eight well known teams from Dubai who will be participating in this festival of cricket. They will be divided into two groups with matches starting at 8.30 am while the final is slated to be played at about 4.30 in the evening," said Mohamed Lokhandwala, Honorary Secretary of DCC.
Seven Seas Strikers, Yogi Group, Dnata, Anchor Marine, Majid CC, Golden Lion, Dubai Dry Dock and Dubai Customs will be competing to win this inaugural tournament.
There are trophies and medals to be won in addition to the award for the Best Player, Best Bowler and Best Batsman.
