Singh on song as United Sindhis down Multiplex

Jitendra Singh once again emerged the star performer for United Sindhis with an all-round performance to lift his team to a three-wicket win over Multiplex Sindhi Rockstars in the Sindhi Cricket Premier League, organised by the Sindhi Cricket Club under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council (DCC), at The Sevens ground on Monday night.

This was United’s third win from five matches while Multiplex suffered their third defeat from four played.

Multiplex, looking confident after their big win over NHormus Divine Sindhis a couple of days ago, opted to bat first on winning the toss.

Openers Akash Sapru and Vikram Bhatia gave them an ideal start with a 42-run partnership. While Akash scored a subdued 11, Vikram looked aggressive for his 42 which came off 30 balls and included six hits to the boundary.

The duo were looking set for big scores when Jitendra Singh got rid of both, first trapping Sapru in front of the wicket and later getting the dangerous Bhatia caught and bowled.

But there was lots left in the tank for Multiplex as Rohit Behal, Ajay Sajnani, Manish Hirani and Deepak Malani made useful contributions with the United attack lacking teeth.

Rohit retired with a run-a-ball 30, while Ajay scored 22. Manish played a sweet little cameo to remain unbeaten on 32 which came from 21 balls and Deepak chipped in with 16 from 16.

A total of 168 looked good to defend but United were up for the challenge.

Dheeraj Aswani and Anil Adnani gave them a superb start with Aswani looking the dangerous of the two as he went for boundaries.

Just when they looked settled Adnani was trapped by Rohit Behal for 10. But Aswani continued his onslaught and his 33-ball 41 which contained seven hits to the fence gave United hope that they could achieve the target.

United lost their way a little in the middle overs when Manish Jetwani and Kumar Gandhi bagged three and two wickets respectively for Multiplex.

But Man of the Match Jitendra and Chirag Makhija held their nerves to wriggle their team out of danger. Jitendra gave Chirag good support with a steady 27 before he departed.

Chirag continued in the company of Prashant Jatwani as they scampered home with 11 balls to spare.
