1983 - Kapil Dev leads India to maiden World Cup triumph

India became the first Asian nation to win the World Cup with skipper Kapil Dev turning their fortunes with a spectacular unbeaten century against Zimbabwe in a league match.

India stunned West Indies in the final by 31 runs.
