World T20 defending champions England win to stay alive

England beat New Zealand by six wickets in the World Twenty20 Super Eights group one match at Pallekele stadium on Saturday.

Batting first, New Zealand managed 148-6 with James Frankling top-scoring with 50.

Steven Finn took a career best 3-16.

England knocked off the target in 18.5 overs, with Luke Wright (76) and Eoin Morgan (30) sharing a third wicket stand of 89.

West Indies and Sri Lanka meet in the same group later Saturday.

Top two teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals.
