Arsenal striker Carlos Vela could be set to join Real Sociedad on a permanent deal, according to Sky Sports.

Officials from the la liga club are to travel to North London next week.

Arsene Wenger has given no indication that Vela has a future at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal have sent the Mexican striker on four separate loan deals during the past five seasons.

Vela has been at la Real since January last year and has scored six goals in 25 games during this campaign. This impressive form has prompted club  president Jokin Aperribay to make the trip to London to try and complete a permanent deal for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal won the race to sign Vela in 2005 and the then 16-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Mexican side Guadalajara with a glowing reputation.

However, he has struggled to fulfil this potential and has only made 29 appearances for Wenger’s side.

Sky Sports report a number of other clubs are keen on the player but Arsenal gave Real Sociedad first option should they wish to sign the player and add he is also keen to remain at the Anoeta.
