Arsene Wenger is not one to dive in, unless of course he is on holiday in Brazil; and has a protégé of his providing the inspiration .

Luis Suarez could have been Arsenal’s headache for a what – one pound more than what they offered.

As Liverpool are faced with the prospect of sticking with, and by, the cruel enigma that is Luis Suarez, should Barcelona and Real Madrid decide that he is not worth the rehab, Arsenal might once more be faced with the prospect of diving in for a steal.

In fact with Mario Balloteli, Wenger might have the perfect Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde strike on the field and off it as well.

This is why the news, courtesy the Catalan sports paper Mundo Deportivo, that Arsenal have made a 40million euro bid for the stable, talented and sensible Alexis Sanchez might come as better news  for Arsenal fans.

As Chile bowed out fighting to Brazil yesterday, Sanchez missing his penalty, the striker’s predatory instincts, speed, and power and finishing maybe just the thrust Arsenal need to keep their trophies coming.

Having said that, Balotelli coming off the bench is not such a bad idea after all.
