Ashley Young joins Manchester United

Manchester United has signed Ashley Young from Premier League rival Aston Villa for a reported £17 million ($27 million), making the England winger the club's second major acquisition of the offseason.

Young, who had 12 months left on his contract with Villa, has joined United on a five-year deal to add further strength to the English champions' attacking options.

Young can play on either wing and also in a central position behind the strikers. He has played 15 times for England, most recently against Switzerland at the start of the month when he came off the bench to score the equalizer in a 2-2 draw.

United has already signed defender Phil Jones from Blackburn this summer for a reported £16 million.
