Cesc Fabregas may finally be headed home as Barcelona line up an improved offer of £36 million for the Arsenal skipper.

Barcelona are set to table their latest offer to Arsenal in an effort to bring the long-running transfer saga of Fabregas to an end.

The proposed deal will be worth £36 million – a fixed bid of £26 million with £10 million of add-ons based on appearances and the club’s success after Fabregas’s return to the Nou Camp, according to the 'Daily Mail'.

The move is being handled by Barca president Sandro Rosell, who left the club’s tour of the United States on Sunday, it said.

Arsenal have said they want the matter decided one way or the other by the end of the week.

Fabregas has played no part in the Arsenal's pre-season because of a combination of a hamstring injury and manager Arsene Wenger believing the Spain international is not in the right frame of mind.
