Porto have raised the stakes for Brazilian star Porto despite Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich being ready to pay a staggering £30 million, according to the Mirror.

Chelsea is the preferred destination for Hulk who has expressed his desire to move to the Premier League.

The European champions have been tipped to make the £35 million-rated hot shot their next signing, after wrapping up a £32m deal for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard.

But Porto, who feel hard done over coach Andre Villas-Boas’ departure to the west Londoners, last season, are holding out for £40m.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have joined the chase to sign the powerful hitman who is wanted by at least four English clubs, according to the player's agent Teodoro Fonseca.

Manchester United, City and Arsenal are also interested in Porto who fired Porto to their second successive league title, scoring 21 goals in 38 appearances last season.

Chelsea believe they have won the race to sign the 25-year-old, who is keen to move to Stamford Bridge after being impressed with their new ambition.

The big-spending Blues are rebuilding in a major way after capturing Werder Bremen's Marko Marin and Lille star Eden Hazard for a revamped midfield.

They now want to further bolster their attacking options and are in advanced talks over Hulk.
