Chelsea to make dramatic swoop for Johnson

Chelsea could be ready to make a shock move for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson, in order to bolster their attack, according to ESPNstar.com.

According to reports in talkSPORT, Andre Villas-Boas is an admirer of the 24-year-old and is keen to add him to the squad at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese will be aided by the fact that Johnson could be unsettled at the club, given that he started 16 out of 31 Premier League games from the bench last season.

However, City boss Robert Mancini would not be keen to lose the England star, but could be forced to sell in order to keep the wage bill down, as the club look to try to accomodate the possible addition of Sergio Aguero into their bloated salary structure.

Villa-Boas would be keen to add Johnson to his midfield in order to bring out the best of strikers Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres, as the winger's ability on the wing, as well as his pinpoint crossing, would certainly give his targetmen more chances to score
