Manchester City have hit back at comments made by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger questioning their £300 million sponsorship deal with Etihad Airways, according to Britain's Press Association.

The Frenchman suggested that City were trying to get around the new rules of Uefa Financial Fair Play with the deal which includes the naming rights of their stadium and input into a new training facility along with continued shirt sponsorship.

However, City have denied any wrong-doing and have stated the figures being bandied around in the press are false, whilst also insisting they will continue to work under the regulations of the Financial Fair Play system.

"The financial details of the comprehensive agreement announced last week between Manchester City and Etihad Airways remain confidential and figures being speculated about are not accurate," said a club spokesman.

"Manchester City is a pro-active member of the European Clubs Association and is working actively and with transparency with regard to Financial Fair Play.

"In light of these facts, recent comments about the partnership by some observers are unfounded and regrettable."
