Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez could be headed to England. And both playing for one team. Largs Thistle.

The tiny club, non-league, have put in a transfer request for both the players, possible the world’s best two, to euromillions mega-winner Colin Weir.

According to a report in British tabloid The Sun, Colin, who scooped a record-breaking £161.6million with wife Christine, was asked to stump up for two of the world's greatest players by the small club.

Club vice-president Jim McGinty said: "Colin could afford to buy Messi and Tevez - that would really bring the crowds in. But just a day's interest on his winnings would help us.

"A new stand would be lovely. We could name it the Colin Weir stand."

The jokey request is just one of the hundreds of begging letters sent to the Weirs since they landed Europe's biggest jackpot last week.

Colin, 64, is a huge fan of Barcelona, where £80million-rated Messi plays. Unsettled Man City striker Tevez is worth around £50million.

Ex-TV cameraman Colin and Christine, 55, were last night holed up in a Highlands hideaway as begging letters poured through the letterbox of their home in Largs, Ayrshire.

Hundreds more - many addressed simply to "The Weirs" - were piled up at the local sorting office.
