Fellaini signs new Everton deal

Everton's Belgian international midfielder Marouane Fellaini on Thursday signed a new five-year contract at the Premier League club, officials confirmed.

Fellaini, 23, has been the subject of relentless speculation recently, with reports of a possible transfer in January.

However, Everton chief executive Robert Elstone confirmed Fellaini had put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain at Goodison until 2016.

"Marouane has been a hugely influential player for Everton since his arrival in 2008 and we hope that remains to be the case for the next five years," Elstone said in a statement.

Fellaini joined Everton from Standard Liege in 2008 and has rapidly emerged as one of manager David Moyes' key figures.
