Gervinho has warned Arsenal fans that Olivier Giroud is not Robin van Persie, according to The Sun.

Echoing the sentiments of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, Gervinho insisted Giroud cannot fill the huge void left by the golden boots of the Dutch hitman.

The France striker has failed to score in two Premier League games since his £9.6 million move from Montpellier.

He missed in front of goal in the opener against Sunderland and came close with a flamboyant long range effort against Stoke though it did not impress Wenger.

Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield Sunday afternoon and Gervinho said: “Olivier is very motivated, but we mustn’t put too much pressure on him.

“It is not easy to replace someone who scored over 30 goals last season. Olivier won’t be able to sort out our problems straight away.

“He needs a bit of time. The fact the manager signed him for Arsenal says that he has abilities and he still has time to be able to settle in.”
