UAE national team goalkeeper Humaid Jamal returned to Dubai after helping Lokomotiv Moscow FC lift the Mundialito de Clubes trophy against Brazilian club CR Flamengo in Sao Paulo, Brazil last week.
Humaid Jamal was one of the outstanding performers for the Russian club as they fought back on three occasions to eventually seal a fine 6-4 win against the Brazil’s Flamengo.
Jamal played in all the matches, sharing his goalkeeping duties with Ukraine’s Sydorenko – later awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament - to eventually come out as the best combination in this week-long competition to decide the best beach soccer club in the world.
It is a matter of great pride for Dubai and the UAE as Humaid Jamal was one of the talented players tapped during the course of the Dubai Sports Council’s ‘Al Furjan’ inter-district competition.
“This is definitely something that we can be proud of considering that Humaid Jamal has come through the ‘Al Furjan’ competition. And now he is the best goalkeeper in the world and we are proud to have him on our national team as well,” said Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council.
“Humaid Jamal is just one of the few success stories of the varied development programmes that have been initiated by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. We are confident that we will reap even more benefits from these programmes in all other sports in the near future,” Dr. Al Sharif added.
Benjamin gave the home side the lead in the sixth minute only to see Gorchinskiy draw level. Benjamin added a second and Gorchinskiy once again came up with a reply. Yet again, Benjamin scored and completed a fine hat-trick, but the Moscow side did not give up and drew level through Shkarin.
Lokomotiv led for the first time in the match on a second from as Makarov added another to make it 4-3 and Daniel pushed in one to make it 5-3. However, Bernardo scored his first of the match to keep the Brazilians in the fray only to see one final strike from Makarov end the fight in favour of the Moscovites.
Brazil’s Clube Vasco Da Gama took the bronze with a 5-4 win against Sporting Clube de Lisbon.
