Kenny's Liverpool dream goes from bad to worse

Kenny Dalglish seems to be at the end of his tether and may run short of excuses after their latest setback against Wigan.
Dalglish blamed fatigue caused by their success in two cup competitions for the surprising 2-1 defeat against the Premier League strugglers.
Gary Caldwell's second half winner sealed Wigan's first ever victory at Anfield after Luis Suarez had cancelled out Shaun Maloney's penalty opener for the Latics.
Suarez had a second equaliser ruled out for handball, much to Dalglish's anger, but the loss means Liverpool have won just five of their 15 home league games this season, a return which has left Champions League football a distant hope for his club.
"I think we looked a bit tired. If you play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, it is going to take its toll," said Dalglish.
But it may be the turn of the Kop legend to look at the end of the barrel after another disappointing performance at Anfield.
Dalglish has already won the Carling Cup and earned a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
But the fact is Liverpool are struggling for a top-six Premier League finish.
Before Saturday’s clash with Wigan, only two teams had a worse points haul over the last 10 games than Liverpool.
In fact they are closer to the bottom of the table than the top.
John W Henry’s Fenway Sports Group will undertake a thorough review of the season in the summer and all levels of management will come under scrutiny, according to the Sunday Mirror.
This is despite a claim from managing director Ian Ayre that Dalglish has the full backing of the owners, who have bankrolled him to the tune of £115 million in the transfer market since returning to the Anfield hot-seat 15 months ago.
The 61-year-old Scot took charge when the club was still reeling from the ownership years of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
If he can deliver a trip to the FA Cup final, Dalglish may yet survive.
But Liverpool’s owners expect him to be chasing a Champions League place.
Thus there would be second thoughts about splashing big money this summer as Liverpool prepare to buy another Suarez.
Anderlecht’s £20 million-rated striker Matias Suarez have emerged as their top target.
Kop technical director Damien Comolli has watched the 23-year-old Argentinian in recent months – but Liverpool are just one of three Premier League clubs monitoring the player.
West Brom and another unnamed club have made their interest known to Anderlecht, but Liverpool’s financial power has put them in pole position.
Comolli was reportedly shocked to discover how much the Belgian club want for Suarez Mk II, but Anderlecht manager Herman van Holsbeeck has revealed of host of top sides are trailing the forward.
Van Holsbeeck said: “There are 15 top clubs prepared to pay the money we want for Suarez and the fee could be higher than the money we received from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku last year. Matias could have gone to Russia in the winter and also Juventus, but his wife Magali did not want to go."
“Do I think Suarez is worth more than Lukaku? Well, technically he is a better player,” he added of Lukaku who moved to Stamford Bridge.
Comolli was responsible for the recruitment of Luis Suarez, who has been a huge hit, but many signings made by Liverpool’s American owners have not brought the same value for money most notably £35 million Andy Carroll.
