Kuwait beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the final to win the 20th Gulf Cup football tournament in Aden, Yemen on Sunday.
The winning goal came in the 94th minute of the game during the first period of extra time after both teams went goalless in regulion time.
This was the 10th time Kuwait have won the Gulf Cup title and second straight loss in the final to Saudi Arabia who were runners-up to hosts Oman in the previous edition of the tournament.
For Kuwait, this was its 10th Gulf Cup title.
The Saudis were in control from but Kuwait got the first scoring chance when Waleed Ali’s shot hit the left post in the 33rd minute from inside the box.
However, Waleed Ali made certain during extra time blasted a shot to the back of the net from the left to secure Kuwait the winner.
The writing was on the wall for the Saudis when Muhannad Asiri was red carded for diving in the 112th minute.
