For all the magic he has worked at Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish has his toughest managerial quest coming up. And it does not even concern finishing fourth anymore.

It will be all about the composition of his team for next season. Creating a team that can re-create the dominance of Anfield from years past.

A hint that not everyone is convinced of King Kenny’s plans or ideas came from the Reds’ Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt.

An exclusive report (https://bit.ly/Gzooxi) in The Mirror on Tuesday had Kuyt, one of Liverpool’s most trusted players in recent times, pleading to be part of a glorious Anfield future.

He admitted he could be forced to think about his future if he doesn’t get the playing time he believes he deserves.

“I want to play every game. It is very disappointing when I don’t - like the Carling Cup Final for instance,” Kuyt was quoted as saying.

“I can see myself staying at Anfield for the rest of my career, as long as I am satisfied and am entitled to play in each game to get to the level I want to be.”

That should put Kenny on alert.

His picks of Luis Suarez and possible dud of the season (now that Fernando Torres has started scoring) Andy Carroll, have not worked for Liverpool.

Liverpool have simply not scored enough of goals and this is the reason they sit off the pace for Champions League spots in the table.

While Kuyt is something of a Kop cult hero, the controversial Suarez and the mis-firing Carroll have still to win over the pundits.

For Kenny though, it’s all about getting the balance right for next season. And Dirk Kuyt is ready for action.
