And when we say release we mean on an overlap down the flank.

Brendan Rodgers is a man on the attack. Luis Suarez is in the bag and that is a huge victory for Liverpool.

What the Reds now need is the perfect foil for Suarez. Steven Gerrard apart, there has to be a point man to release Suarez.

And Carroll may or may not be the one.

Rodgers is not waiting to find out.

Which is why news that he is heading for Barcelona winger Cristian Tello will bring much cheer to the Kop.

According to the Daily Mirror rumours of a potential move away from the Catalan giants emerged after the 20- year old was not handed a squad number for the forthcoming campaign.

Tello has spent two years in Barcelona’s B team before he broke into the first team scene last season.

Tello could cost just £7m and will give Liverpool the kind of wing play that has been sorely lacking so far.
