Louis van Gaal has emerged as a leading contender to take over as Chelsea boss.

According to The Mirror, the 60-year-old Dutchman and former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager believes he can repeat his track record of success at one more top club.

Van Gaal is known as a no-nonsense boss who will break any hint of player-power at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is known to want a strong character in charge to handle influential players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Van Gaal has won titles in Holland, Spain and Germany as well as the Champions League and is currently living at his villa in Portugal, but has made it clear he has the energy and motivation to run a major club.

Van Gaal is also the No.1 candidate at PSV Eindhoven for next season, but he prefers a move to the Premier League.

He has an impressive track record having won seven league titles in three different countries, with four different clubs.
