The player every club really wants after the Euros is not Andrea Pirlo. It is Luka Modric.

Real Madrid want him, Manchester United want him and Tottenham Hotspur certainly do not want to lose him.

However, given that when Modric first said he was ready to Spur on out of White Hart Lane it was Chelsea that he cited as the club he would like to go to.

Now Chelsea have used a trump card to convince Modric to change the fact that Madrid is his most likely destination.

Chelsea stalwart and wing back Branislav Ivanovic has asked Modric to abandon his move to Real Madrid or Manchester United and join European champions Chelsea instead.

And Ivanovic has urged one of the star men at this summer's Euro 2012 to head to Stamford Bridge.

Ivanovic’s quotes to Sportske Novosti were replayed by the British press with him saying, “Chelsea as a team needs a player with these qualities.

“He has exceptional quality, and moving to a bigger club is necessary for him to take the next step in his career.

“I think at Chelsea he would adapt instantly and become a better player. He should come to Chelsea - it won't go wrong!'

Real boss Jose Mourinho and manager Sir Alex Ferguson will need to watch this carefully.
