Man Utd split wide open: Moura the merrier

Manchester United’s assault on the premier league, the Champions trophy and at least one other cup could very well see Alex Ferguson fielding two ‘A’ teams.

Despite the exit of Ji-Sung Park, Fergie seems intent on keeping all his other options.

His £20 million-plus bid for Brazilian wonder boy Lucas Moura seems to be another move in the direction of having two squads – one chasing the cups and one for the league, with a best of both for Europe.

How else can one explain the pursuing of Moura?

Moura, Wellbeck, Rooney, Chicharito could well give Fergie the attacking depth he seeks to beat back a Manchester City force that is likely to see Robin Van Persie joining Balloteli, Tevez and Aguero.

Fergie has Kagawa and Cleverley as his aces (or jokers) in the pack that will allow Scholes and Giggs breathing time.

Will Nani stay or go? That will all depend on who else Fergie pursues.

Then there is his new squad of hopefuls: Nick Powell Tyler Blackett, Larnell Cole, Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane.

Add a Samba star to those options and United could well be on their way.
