Maradona leaves Dubai to attend mother's funeral

Diego Maradona has left Dubai for Argentina on Sunday to attend the funeral of his mother Dalma Salvadora Franco, who died a day earlier after a short illness.

Al Wasl, the club Maradona coaches, did not say when he would return but that the team's assistants and technical staff would be in charge until he got back. The team's next match is Friday against Emirates.

Maradona signed a two-year contract with the Dubai-based club earlier this year.
