The team with the best defence normally wins the Premier League. Manchester United know that as Sir Alex Ferguson publicly acknowledged in his post-match comments last Sunday.

Which is why, the fact that Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are no longer the colossuses they once were, might be prompting Sir Alex to stock up on young new defenders.

Alex Buttner is in and joins Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and a somewhat experienced Johny Evans in the United defensive Arsenal.

Let’s say the Fabio-Rafael experiment still has to cash in.

Now, the Metro reports that one of hottest young Brit defenders on the block, 19-year-old Liam Moore is a United target.

What is more interesting is that the report states that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are also tracking Moore, whose reputation as him in the Leicester first-team this season, after a spell on loan at Bradford City last year.

Scouts from Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa have been around to watch him in recent weeks, but it is United who need cover for Rafael and Patrice Evra.

While Wenger will enjoy the prospect of turning Moore in to another Arsenal great.. if only to cash in on him.

Leicester value Moore at around £5 million and according to the Metro will be willing to do business in January.

Moore is a regular for England's Under-19's.
