Newcastle’s Alan Pardew is looking to pack his midfield and leave no space for opposition teams to play.

Which is why the latest target on his transfer wishlist is  Malaga’s French midfielder Jeremy Toulalan Pardew already has plenty of Frenchmen on his books and that could well attract Toulalan.

Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Mehdi Abeid and Romain Amalfitano are all at Newcastle.

The Mirror reported that Toulalan's former club Lyon are also interested in re-signing the 28-year-.

Malaga are reported to be in financial trouble which may force a fire sale of their players.

Toulalan joined Malaga from Lyon for £10m last summer.

Newcastle have also bid £4 million for FC Twente’s centre-back Douglas Texeira, according to The Sun.

The club have been tracking the Brazilian since last season and have offered him £40,000 a week.

The 6ft 3in defender, who has just one year left on his contract, has also been linked with Aston Villa.

But he is tempted to stay put and go for free in 12 months.

Texeira qualifies for a Dutch passport that allows him to play anywhere in the EU from September 1.

A top four finish is certainly looking like a real possibility for the Toon army.
