Ronaldo says that his playing days are nearing their end.

The man who has scored more World Cup goals than any other tells Brazil's Globo TV that he wants to end this year on a high note, then decide afterward whether to continue next year.

Ronaldo has not played for his club Corinthians for more than 100 days because of injuries.

And his lingering weight problem has returned with his lack of training.

He says that the end of his career is "getting closer each day" but that he wants to make one "last sacrifice to end the year well."

In the Wednesday interview, Ronaldo says that he does not want to make a big deal about his exit from professional football.

Rather, after an as-yet determined match, he will simply end the match and announce, "that's it."
