Schalke 04 captain Benedikt Hoewedes says the Royal Blues are confident for Tuesday's Champions League visit of Arsenal, despite his team's shock defeat at Hoffenheim.
Schalke had their five-match winning streak rudely ended on Saturday as Hoffenheim super-sub Sven Schipplock fired home a 91st-minute goal to seal a 3-2 win in Sinsheim just two minutes after coming off the bench.
Schalke, who reached the Champions League's semi-final in 2010, went top of Group B after their impressive 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago.
And Hoewedes said his side can repeat the victory when they host Arsene Wenger's Gunners in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday.
"I think we have every chance. We won in London, why shouldn't we succeed in front of our own fans at the Veltins-Arena?" said the 24-year-old centre-back.
"We will not be thrown off by a defeat."
Having fallen 2-1 behind at Hoffenheim after conceding a second-half penalty, Schalke looked to have rescued a point after Japan right-back Atsuto Uchida equalised in the 82nd minute to celebrate his first goal for the Royal Blues.
But Hoffenheim scored in added time to earn their first win in five games and send Schalke back to Gelsenkirchen with a few things to think about before the arrival of Arsenal.
"Certainly on the way home to Gelsenkirchen, everyone reviewed the game's events," said Benedikt.
"But we have to concentrate on the next task and not look back.
"The result, of course, is a step back, but overall, we put in a good performance against Hoffenheim, dominated the game and we created a number of chances, so you can't see everything as bad.
"We simply need to be more consistent in some situations, both going forwards and at the back."
Japan's Uchida admitted he had bittersweet feelings after scoring his first Bundesliga goal, but said his team were fired up for the Gunners.
"We have to look forward and give our best against Arsenal," said the 24-year-old who has made 51 German league appearances since joining Schalke from J-League side Kashima Antlers in 2010.
"I am proud to have scored my first Bundesliga goal, but I can't be really happy.
"We definitely wanted to win in Hoffenheim and keep our winning streak going, but it wasn't to be.
"The defeat was very annoying and it hurts."
Schalke top their group on seven points, one more than second-placed Arsenal, with Olympiakos third and Montpellier fourth.
