Schalke 04 midfielder Lewis Holtby has said he will decide his Royal Blues' future during the Bundesliga's winter break after admitting he has received offers to play in England's Premier League.

The Germany Under-21 captain, who has an English father, is out of contract at the end of the season, but having admitted his agent has received offers from English clubs, Holtby says he will decide soon.

"It will be a decision of the heart, I won't play around with the club," the 22-year-old told local newspaper Der Western after Schalke's 2-1 home victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday which keeps them second in the Bundesliga.

"The opportunities are there.

"My agent has received offers. I'm waiting to make a decision."

Holtby was Schalke's hero on Saturday as his last-minute clearance off the line after a shot from Bremen's Theodor Gebre Selassie ensured the Royal Blues took the three points.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has said he is working on extending Holtby's contract with the Bundesliga set to start a five-week winter break on December 16.

Nicknamed 'Fritz' by his Liverpool-born father Chris, a passionate Everton fan, Holtby underlined his admiration for English football despite having won two full caps for the senior Germany team.

"Everton is always close to my heart and I've always loved Arsenal for their style," he told the British media before Schalke's recent Champions League matches against Arsenal.

With three goals this season and seven assists, Holtby has been in impressive form this season having succeeded Spain star Raul as Schalke's play-maker.
