Former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Michael Laudrup is transforming Swansea City into a new Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers arrived with much fanfare from Swansea to replace Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish.

But in a strange quirk of fate, Liverpool are lying at the bottom just above QPR and Southampton while Swansea are sitting on top just behind Chelsea.

Rodgers, renowned for his attacking style at Swansea, promised to bring a 'tiki-taka' revolution at Anfield.

But his stock has nose-dived following an opening day humbling at West Brom. Despite lifting themselves only to squander the advantage against champions Manchester City, they were buried by the Gunners.

Laudrup's side on the other hand got off to a flying start thumping QPR 5-0 and West Ham 3-0 before being held by Sunderland.

The key to Swansea's success is Laudrup making good buys while Rodgers has been caught offside during the transfer window.

His decision to offload Andy Carroll backfired spectacularly after failing to secure the signature of American striker Clint Dempsey.

Although Rodgers manage to poach Joe Allen from his former club, Laudrup's £2 million signing Michu has been a wise investment.

The Rayo Vallecano midfielder has been a revelation, scoring in every game inlcuding a brace against QPR.

Now Swansea have confirmed the signing of free agent Dwight Tiendalli on a one-year deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Holland Under 21 left back, who was released by FC Twente at the end of last season, will stand in for the injured Neil Taylor.

Taylor is out for the season after breaking his ankle against Sunderland on September 1.
