Arsenal are bow coasting. Wenger is smiling. Robin Van Persie is scoring. Life could not be better at the Emirates.

And it could only get worse for Premier League opposition that still has to play Arsenal – not least Manchester City.

And it seems the Gunners are finally ready to unleash their ‘Wayne Rooney’ as they make sure they finish above arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur in third spot in the English Premier League.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is to be Arsenal's answer to Wayne Rooney, according to Van Persie.

The Ox has burst on to the scene with impressive displays this season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said he believes Chamberlain, 18, is destined to gatecrash England's squad for this summer's Euros.

And Gunners skipper Van Persie has backed the teenager to have the same effect as Rooney.

The Dutchman said: "He has pace, he is clever, knows when to pass, when to keep the ball and has good technique.

"He's a bit like Rooney, who I rate highly. Rooney's a big player and a good all-rounder who can score goals, provide assists and make nice runs — he has a bit of everything.

"And although Alex plays on the left or right — whereas Rooney plays more through the middle — that could change in the future. They are both good all-round players."
