Vidic on course for return to training in July

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic says he is on course to be back in training in July ahead of a return to play in time for the start of next season.

The former Serbia defender ruptured the cruciate ligament in his right knee in a Champions League loss to FC Basel in December, ruling him out of the rest of this season.

In an update on his recovery, the 30-year-old Vidic says ``the projection was I would be ready for the next season. I am on schedule.''

United has risen to the top of the Premier League in Vidic's absence, leading by four points ahead of second-place Manchester City's match against Chelsea on Wednesday.
