Deccan Chargers captain Kumar Sangakkara has said that his national team-mates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will have to abide by the decision taken by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) regarding returning home midway into the Twenty20 league for a tour of England.

“We have a tour of England happening by the en d of May. I think the Board (SLC) will start calling us back. I am not sure if it is going to be May 5 or not (for the return home),” Sangakkara told reporters after Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 33 runs .
“It is upto the BCCI and SLC to negotiate on this (date of return). We as players can do is to abide by the decision of our Board. I hope the players would be communicated after a decision is taken by the BCCI and SLC. We have to abide by that,” he said at the post-match press conference.
Sri Lanka’s Minister of Sport Mahindananda Aluthgamage had issued a directive for players selected for the England tour which begins on May 14 to return for practices on May 5.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India had been told when the IPL auction took place in January that Sri Lankan players would be allowed to play until May 22.
Apart from Sangakkara, who quit as Sri Lanka captain after the World Cup, there are 10 players in the IPL including Kochi Tuskers Kerala skipper Mahela Jayawardena and leading striker bowler for Mumbai Indians Lasith Malinga.
The fourth season of IPL goes on till May 28. Sri Lanka are scheduled to depart for England on May 11.
