It  will come as a shock to some Liverpool fans, but not to all.

In a shocking bar rant captured by the Daily Mirror’s Sunday edition, Newcastle’s Managing Director Derek Llambias claimed that Andy Carroll is worth nothing.

Well, he actually used a word much stronger than nothing, which would not be fit to reproduce here.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been stoic in defence of the pony-tailed forward who has consistently under-performed for the Reds so far.

What is really irking the Kop is that Liverpool paid 35 million pounds for the striker – a deal that made him the most expensive Englishman in footballing history.

These shocking claims by Llambias will now only serve to increase the pressure on Carroll and more importantly King Kenny.

With a top four slot within reach, Kenny needs Carroll to show that he is worth the money the Reds have paid for him.

However, not a single performance so far – not even in friendlies – has suggested that the man has what it takes to be a Liverpool striker.

Maybe Newcastle knew what they were doing when the sold him.
