Shadeep Silva bagged six wickets and Adil Reyal three but Fly Emirates still ended up on the losing side against Alubond Tigers in Group B of the 3rd Elite Cricket Cup played at the Fairground of the Dubai Men’s College.

Alubond were sent in to bat by Fly Emirates but despite losing a wicket early in their innings Rohan Mustafa (29), Shabbir Gulam (27) and Hassan Raza (27) guided their team through with good contributions.

Yet the Tigers were not out of hot water with Shadeep and Adil claiming wickets at regular intervals.

It took No. 6 batsman Waheed Ahmed to break the shackles as he blasted three sixes and a four in his 46 and with tailender Asif Mumtaz chipping in with 14 quick runs, the Tigers managed a healthy 195.

Fly Emirates were off in a jiffy, Marlon Fernando leading the way with some big shots to the ropes.

At this stage Alubond struck three vital blows to put the brakes on Fly Emirates scoring.

When Fernando  too lost his wicket after hitting a six and seven fours for his 43 from 45 balls it looked curtains for Fly Emirates until Shaheer Reyal and Krishna Chandran joined hands for a 74-run partnership to keep them in the hunt.

But with Mohammad Azhar (3-20), man of the match Asif Mumtaz (3-39) and some miserly bowling from Umair Ali (4-1-3-2) pegging away at their batting time and again it left Fly Emirates well short of their ground and they ended up on 172.

Alubond were not that impressive in their other match when they lost to Ibsons by three wickets.
