The Dubai Tour jerseys and 'Circle of Stars' trophy was officially unveiled at a gala event at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City on Tuesday.

Both the Dubai Tour jerseys – designed by Versace and produced by Castelli – and the 'Circle of Stars' trophy – designed by Pininfarina – have been made in Italy for the inaugural edition of the race to be held from February 5 to 8.

It has attracted 16 teams, including two from the host country - UAE National team and Skydive Dubai.

Vittorio Brumotti, the holder of nine world records in bike trials – chronicled in the Guinness Book of Records – one of which is climbing Dubai's Burj Khalifa with a bike, entertained the audience before the presentation.

The four race jerseys will be worn by the leaders of each race classification.

The General Classification (GC) leader will wear a blue jersey, sponsored by RTA; the Points Classification Leader’s Jersey will be red, showing the logo of Emirates; the Best Young Rider Classification Leader’s Jersey will be white and sponsored by Dubai Sports Council; and the special Intermediate Sprint Classification Leader’s Jersey will be the United Arab Emirates flag colours of white, red, green and black, together with the Dubai Sports Channel logo.

The Dubai Eye 103.8 (Arabian Radio Network) will sponsor each stage winner.

The Dubai Tour trophy has been designed by the prestigious Made in Italy brand, Pininfarina.

The trophy embodies the principles of Pininfarina style: the constant research of pure lines, elegance and innovation.

It is based on a circle, the most simple and perfect shape, which under the pressure of the movement, creates a dynamic and elegant form.

The trophy holds several references to the world of cycling: it can be seen as a wheel of a racing bike, representing the energy of the race; and at the same time, it is designed to be lifted by the winner as a tribute to the racing cyclists in history, who traditionally carried their inner-tubes crossed on their shoulders.

The materials used have both an aesthetic value of their own, and a symbolic role in representing Dubai. The trophy is an extraordinary multi-faceted crystal sand/blue object, typical of the local desert, which has been transformed into a perfect shape and smoothness.

Saeed Hareb, Chairman of the Dubai Tour High Committee said: "The Dubai Tour will be the greatest cycling event that Dubai has ever seen. It will soon be one of the most famous sporting events in the world."

"I would like to thank the Dubai Tour Higher Commitee and everybody who has made this event possible, including both RCS Sport and the Dubai Sports Council. We are now less than 20 days away from the start of the event and I look forward to welcoming the riders and media to Dubai: they will be the lucky ones that one day in few years would be able to say 'I've seen the birth of that marvellous event, the Dubai Tour'," he added.

Huraiz Bin Huraiz, Dubai Tour Tournament Director said: "The leader’s jerseys in cycling are the representation of a single rider’s supremacy over his competitors."

"The RTA Blue Jersey – leader of the general classification rider – is therefore the strongest of them all. For this reason, the overall leader is universally regarded as a hero and a source of inspiration. The Pink Jersey of the Giro d'Italia, the Yellow Jersey of the Tour de France and the Red Jersey of the Vuelta a Espana are sports symbols that transcend national borders and years."

"From 2014 there will be another jersey gaining the attention of world: the RTA Blue Jersey of the Dubai Tour winner, who has raised his arms and the winner's trophy to the sky. The RTA Blue Jersey will become an immortal symbol in the history of Dubai and of international sport."

Lorenzo Giorgetti, RCS Sport Commercial Director - RCS Sports and Events Dubai Director, said: "We are very proud to add a further touch of ‘Made in Italy’ at the Dubai Tour with our prestigious partners, famous all over the world – such as Versace and Pininfarina. We are confident that the big event in February will have a huge impact all over the world."

The Dubai Sports Channel will be the event’s Host Broadcaster and will broadcast all four stages live, along with analysis and updates in the news shows. European and Asian coverage will be by Eurosport. In Italy, the event will also be broadcasted by RAI.
