The UAE’s richest video game football tournament has been launched in Abu Dhabi.

The Million Player and International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) announced the details of the Million Player competition, which will see thousands of PS4 gamers from across the UAE battle it out on FIFA 14 for the coveted Dh1 million first prize.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Million Player championship will be held from the 2nd to 28th day of Ramadan 2014 and expects to attract more than 50,000 entrants.

The initial qualifying stages and final will take place at Al Jazeera Sport Club, Abu Dhabi.

“We are thrilled to be the Official Partner and Sponsor of this exciting event,” said Khadem Al Qubaisi, Managing Director of IPIC.

“The tournament is an opportunity for the UAE’s youth to show off their skills in a competitive environment, meet like-minded people, and be part of the wider community of gaming and football enthusiasts.”

Sultan Bin Salim Bin Thaloub Al Dari, Chairman of the E-Football Committee added: “It’s fantastic that once again we have the support of IPIC as the Official Partner and Strategic Sponsor of the Million Player competition. The tournament saw huge success in 2013 and we expect it to be bigger and better this year as gamers compete for their chance to win the incredible Dh1 million prize.”
