Some may call it professionalism. Some, betrayal. One can only imagine what Sir Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson will call it.
However, in a startling revelation that is sure to shock the legions of Manchester United fans world-wide, The Sun revealed that United striker Wayne Rooney celebrated his birthday last night with Manchester City stars (https://bit.ly/okm9Vi) - who inflicted a humiliating 6-1 defeat on the Red Devils just hours earlier.
The Man United striker turns 26 but marked the event last night at his favourite Chinese restaurant, Wings, in the city centre.
And onlookers were stunned when Man City's Joe Hart and Gareth Barry turned up.
The Sun quoted one fan as saying: "I did a double-take when I saw the City lads walk in. But it shows what a great sport Wayne is to party the night away with his arch-rivals — especially after they gave United such a hammering.”
That is not how many of the gutted United fans will see it.
Though Hart and Barry displayed a lot more grace in victory than Micah Richards or Mario Balotelli – who took the chance to rub United’s nose in it.
Joe, 25, was accompanied by his girlfriend Kimberly Crew and Gareth, 30, was with wife Louise.
According to the report Wayne hired the entire restaurant for the evening and guests tucked into a banquet before singing karaoke.
