The second tournament of the season at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club gets underway on Saturday at the Royal Abu Dhabi Club when Ghantoot opens against ADCB Polo team.

Ghantoot triumphed over ADCB in the final of this event last season, thanks only to a golden goal, and both sides will feel there is a little unfinished business to be played out on the Royal club’s polo field next month.

Ghantoot Polo team will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record this season after storming to victory in the recently-concluded Golden Polo Cup at the club.

Hasan Nasser Al Deen, Assistant Managing Director said: “The dust has only just settled from one of the most exciting Golden Cups we have hosted here. We are looking forward to more of the same from our players in the Open and hope that the UAE community will come out in force to support the event.”

The teams will consist of some of the most talented Emirati polo players as well as high-goal Argentine professionals.

Hugo Barabucci, newly arrived Argentine professional said: “We have been practicing hard for this tournament, which is one of the most important in our season. I’m looking forward to some highly competitive games.”

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, the preliminary matches will take place on January 14, 16 and 18 with the final on January 20.

All matches are open to the public and free to attend.
