Schumacher, Rosberg add lustre to EMC's 50th anniversary celebrations

Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg added star power at the 50th anniversary celebrations of Emirates Motor Company (EMC), Mercedes-Benz authorized distributors in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and flagship company of Al Fahim Group, on Thursday.

The landmark event was commemorated with a gala dinner at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi held under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

It was attended by Al Fahim Group’s Chairman Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Managing Director Rashed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim and Mike Belk, President & CEO of Daimler Middle East & Levant (DMEL).

“We are honoured that Sheikh Nahyan has graced us with his presence to this special occasion for Al Fahim family and Emirates Motor Company. The past 50 years have seen EMC go from one achievement to the next and we welcome the next 50 years with anticipation and determination to remain pioneers in the UAE,” said Saeed Al Fahim.

EMC has been an icon in the motoring industry in the UAE and has witnessed the exponential growth of the Emirate in its rich half-century of history.

As the flagship company of the Al Fahim Group, EMC symbolises the phenomenal advancement of its parent company. From humble beginnings in 1962, EMC has progressed with Abu Dhabi to become the leading automotive company in the premium sector of the market.

A classical string trio set an ambient tone to the evening that was complemented with a unique action-painting presentation by Jennifer Stelco.

The original work of art was completed in just minutes and accompanied by an electric violin to a captivated audience. The unique painting serves as a memorable emblem of the rich partnership Emirates Motor Company shares with Mercedes-Benz, Al Fahim family and various stakeholders in the country since the dealership’s early beginnings in the early 1960s.

Cultural guide and Emirati role model ‘Ask Ali’ moderated the exclusive event, delivering a speech in honour of the anniversary for the eminent guests present.
